The State Bank of India (SBI) today inaugurated an
'e-corner', a one-stop facility for banking services that functions without any human intervention or papers, at Jeevan Deep Building on Middleton Street.
The e-corner, the first one in an Indian metro, is equipped with two ATM machines, a cash deposit machine (CDM), self-service kiosk (SSK) and coin-vending machine (CVM).
While the CDM can be used for cash deposits, the amount will be entered in the account in real time. The SSK can be used for passport upgradation and the coin- vending machine can be used for collecting coins against notes of different denominations. So a customer in need of change can easily get it from the vending machine.
The facilities will be available round the clock, freeing customers from fixed banking hours.
Chief manager Ajit Kumar Shill said, 'At ATMs, there is a chance of an error in writing the account number on the deposit envelope, but here you swipe your card and feed the notes into the machines and watch it being updated in real time,' he said
'There will be an LED at every e-corner which will give instructions and tips on how to operate each of the user-friendly machines. Soon we will also put up a cheque deposit machines,' said a senior SBI official.
Eleven such e-corners have been installed and are already operating across the state. By the end of this month, SBI plans to open at least one e-corner at each Regional Business Office.

- Once you select the denomination and press confirm button, the machine will take notes inside for verification. You have to wait for few seconds. After validation of money machine will display the amount of money which you kept inside. If figures are correct press confirm and your account will be credited.
